I have an old Kenmore ceiling fan CD-5201 that quit working yesterday. The fan nor lights work. When it stopped working, there was a small popping sound like a bulb going out. Not only is the fan not working, but another ceiling light and two outlets in the same room also have no power. I've checked my breakers; they're all good. I've taken apart both outlets and wall switches to see if anything is burt; everything looks normal. I suspect that something went wrong either in the ceiling fan or in the wiring connecting to it. Do you have a manual for this fan that may help? Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Good afternoon.... I would agree with you that it's likely wiring that connects to the ceiling fan that has failed some how. Seeing that several other outlets have failed within the same room. I will forward your question to an expert who will investigate the matter further and get back to you. You will hear from them within two business days if not sooner. Until you hear from us, have a nice day.
Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your ceiling fan not working. We are here to help. I suspect the ceiling fan was made by Hampton Bay. I provided a link for Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan manuals. The password on this link is hamptonbayshop.com. Just click here to view that link. I recommend disconnecting the ceiling fan from the power. Now check the other ceiling fans and outlets. If the power is restored by disconnecting the ceiling fan, replace the ceiling fan. However, if there was no change, the problem is the house electrical. I recommend an electrician fix the problem. I provide a link below for a electrician. I hope this helps. To hire an electrician visit service live service live and follow the instructions on the website. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you for the guidance. I've removed the ceiling fan and now have the three wires (black, white, and uncovered) coming out of the opening. I assume that leaving them exposed is the right thing to do temporarily. The other light fixture and the two outlets still don't have power. I will remove the other light fixture to make sure that it isn't toast. If that doesn't solve the problem, I'll call an electrician. Also, the link to the manuals doesn't work for me. After entering the password, I see "Loading..." while the progress bar goes for a while, and then I get the message "Retry." I appreciate your help.
