Good morning... I can fully understand your concern regarding this issue. I did locate a link that will discuss this situation in greater detail. I would also suggest that you visit the website Sears Parts Direct.com. Simply enter the model number and a parts break down list, including images of the parts, will open for you to review. Also, within 10 seconds a box will open inviting you to chat with an associate who will be happy to help you locate and order whatever parts you need. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this link will help guide you as to what might wrong with your hood and have a nice day
Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. If it still works, then it sounds like you just need a new membrane covering the switch actuator rod. It appears the membrane has a self adhesive backing. I added an image below showing how to access the switch and membrane. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord after raising the vent before removing and replacing the switch assembly.Once the vent is up, disconnect the power and follow the instructions in the image below. I also added an image about the new membrane too. It appears you would center it over the actuator and stick it on.I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
Marshall: The up and down switch will need to be tested. The up and down switch is located the bracket that that the gear motor is mounted to. It can be disconnected and tested with an Ohm meter for continuity when the switch is pressed. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the vent before servicing.
I have raised the vent and it is now stuck in place..when we click on the start membrane we can hear a motor start to hum, but nothing moves. Two questions, not that the vent is up how do i get it down and second can the unit be worked on without removing it from the cabinet. And last if the unit will not raise what componet would be suspect and should be replaced. could you tell me which component number on the schematic. thanks!
Marshall: If the motor is humming, I suspect the motor is likely jammed due to the possible faulty limit switch. I strongly suggest calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your down draft vent if the images I added in the previous post does not help you diagnose the failure. I would not be able to provide a part number because I'm not sure if it's mechanical issue or an electrical issue. At this time it sounds like a mechanical issue and suggest calling a service technician. It can be worked on without having to remove the unit.
