Kenmore Model # 795.71303.012 bottom freezer refrigerator. The freezer is cold. There was frost built up on it. After unplugging the refrigerator and letting it sit about 30 minutes, when I plugged it in again, there was briefly air flow to the refrigerator but then nothing. There is cold air flowing in the freezer it just isn't getting to the refrigerator.
It is important to keep the refrigerator running. The refrigerator not staying cold can be very concerning. I did find some information for you that I am hoping will help you. I am adding the link below to help you with your question while you wait for your expert response. It may take your expert 24-48 hours. I do hope that this will help you fix the refrigerator.
Thank you for this question Karen. Based on what you have provided, the problem is with the refrigerator temperature sensor. The sensor controls the damper located between the freezer and the fresh food section. Your refrigerator has a test function built into the main control board. Since there is not an error code showing on the control display the main board can be tested. This would require you getting access to the Main control board located on the rear of the refrigerator. From the main control board the fan motor could be forced into operation, by pressing the test button on the board. This allows you to verify the air flow to the fresh food section. Also from the Main control board if you feel comfortable working with and around voltage, you could test the sensor to the fresh food section. At this point you would know what was needed for parts and you could order them from this link: Kenmore Refrigerator Model 795.71303012 .
I have sent you the test and the location of the test switch on the Main Control Board. To check the sensor you would need the unit unplugged from the wall and from the connector ohm the two white wires. Set the meter for 50k or higher. The reading you would look for is 6k to 7k ohms. If you have questions you would reply to the thread and I will help you.
