My model 58054351500 - Kenmore Dehumidifier worked fine last summer. I turned it on this year, and it runs continuously but does not remove any water. When I remove the grill, I see that the bottom part of the coils is iced up. What might be wrong, and is it worth fixing?
Frost appearing on the coils can be normal if the temperature is below 65F degrees. If the unit has not been ran in temperatures below 65F degrees then the frost may be the result of a seal system problem or an air flow problem. If the filter and coils are clean then the problem is most likely caused by a sealed system problem which are expensive to repair. Replacement might be a better option. You can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .
