I just bought this model late last year. I have had pretty good luck in the past ( older model lasted 13 years ). Not so lucky this time this was the fourth tank of fuel ran through it I had stopped to add new line and fill the tank back up I had just started weedeating made a couple swipes with it and it stopped. would not and will not start again, it will spit and sputter but thats all. I have done all the trouble shooting new fuel, new plug, gap set at .025 and still nothing. It will not start even with the plug in power start unit ( model #316.859510 ).
Thank you for your question.I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. If the fuel mixture in the trimmer is older than 5 weeks old, it should be drained. Then refill with fresh fuel mix. If this does not help I suspect there is a problem with the fuel system. I recommend checking in the fuel tank first. When you look in the tank, you should see a fuel line with a white filter attached to the end. Then inspect the fuel line. If it is hard and brittle, it has to be replaced. Here is a video that shows how to replace the fuel line. If the fuel line is fine, I suspect the carburetor is to blame. The carburetor will have to be cleaned or replaced. Here is a video that show how to clean the carburetor. Before you remove the carburetor, make sure to note the fuel line and cable connections. This will save a lot of frustration later. OK. Now I am beyond frustrated ! I have replaced the fuel, the spark plug, the module assembly, and the carburetor. I have checked all the everything I can think of to check except for the gap for the module assembly to the flywheel. The spark plug is wet and is getting power to it. The engine will spit and sputter but will not run. Any more info or suggestions would save this thing from the trash man and keep me from buying a different brand. I am an aircraft mech. and don't have this much trouble with broken down and woreout equipment.
