Hi, I have a Kenmore Ultrasoft 100 water softener Model # 625.725112 which is not draining the water from the salt storage tank even after I cleaned all the nozzle/venturi parts, housing and else 2-3 times. I checked all the parts and the flow plug which sits in the housing (HVDC) looks worn out. Could that be a problem? Also I have been using the softener for the last 6 years or so but never used any raisin bed cleaner. Would cleaning that with a raisin bed cleaner help? Also just like you sanitize the softener before you start using it, you put some bleach in the brine tank. Can I do the process again (after all the salt is gone from the tank) and use CLR instead of Bleach? The water in my area is very very hard and I'm sure I have blockages at several places. Thanks and I'll be waiting for your response with all the details!
Thank you for your question.I am sorry you are having a problem with the water softener. I see that Anna T has given you a few links to look over. I recommend following the advice in the second link. Jimmy has given great diagnostic information. If you are confident that the nozzle and venturi is clean and the flow plugs are clear I recommend replacing the seal kit. I will post the instructions for replacing the seals below. Just remember to turn the water supply off first.
Thank you Mark for your very helpful response and thank you Jimmy for posting the link as well. I'm confident I could change the seals myself and I'm gonna change the HVDC flow plug as well as I read somewhere if it's worn out, it's not gonna help create the pressure. Thanks again and hopefully these things will do the trick. Thanks!
