the ignitor has signal from temp. probe, but burner cycles on and off way before preheat setting. the oven is heating up less and less. is the problem the ignitor, bake valve or safety valve. the broiler works and is conneted to the same safety valve. the ignitor glows but is it getting weak?
It can be very frustrating to have a major appliance to begin to act up. I'm sorry to hear that you are having some difficulties with your Kenmore Oven. I did some research for you at Managemylife and found two expert answers to a similar question that may help until your expert can respond to your specific question. The links are attached below. If you do decide to schedule service and have a qualified technician help you, I have also attached a link to Searshomeservices. I hope these links provided assist you.
Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.
Based on your symptom I would suspect a weak bake igniter part #318177710. It could also be caused by a faulty oven temperature sensor probe part #316217002.If you are finding the bake igniter glowing for long time before the oven gas valve opens and the bake burner ignites, this would indicate a weak bake igniter. If the igniter does not pull enough current/amperage; the oven gas valve will not open. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply to the oven before removing and replacing the bake igniter. If the bake burner ignites within a 15-20 seconds when it cycles on, I would suspect a faulty oven temperature sensor probe. The oven temperature sensor probe can be removed and disconnected and then tested for resistance with an Ohm meter. I added an image below with the resistance measurements. You can order parts from Sears PartsDirect .Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.Member
