I have a brand new Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher model #665.13012K113 when I opened it yesterday to get out a plastic pitcher approx. 5-10 minutes after starting it the heating element was bright read for only about 2 inches on the right side. Is this normal or is there something to be worried about? Also does it hurt for water to come into contact with the heating element? Thanks, Greg
I think its great that you have a new dishwasher in the home, and its important to assure the the parts are in tip top shape. Managemylife.com is always a great resource to find the answers to just about anything. Your expert will research your question and respond within two business days but usually sooner.
Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. To see a 2 inch long portion of the heating element is not normal. It is Okay for water to touch/cascade over the heating element while the dishwasher is washing and heating the water. This is normal operation to bring up the temperature of the water up. It is not normal to see a 2 inch long portion of the heating element to glow bright red. I highly recommend calling and setting up a service appointment to have the heating element replaced. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician.
