I have an older craftsman garage door opener model # 139.53606. I would like to program a new remote control to work with it. The remote I have is for an Elite series security plus model 3800pld. Is this possible. Thank you.
Our Garage Door is one of those overlooked appliances that we sure take for granted until there is an issue. I'm sorry that you are having some difficulties. The Managemylife web site is a good resource to find out what may be happening with your Garage Door Opener. I did some research for you at Managemylife.com and found an excellent article that also has multiple expert answers at the bottom of the web page that addresses the most common questions that have been asked by other members. I hope this will help until your expert can answer your specific question. I attached the link below.
I don't think this will work. Elite is their own company which uses their own technology and frequencies for their products. The Craftsman opener is manufactured by Chamberlain/Liftmaster, which has their won technologies and frequencies for the transmitters.
It is possible that the Elite remote will work with your opener, but I do not have any programming information for the Elite products. You should be able to get that information from their customer service department or from the manual. If your opener has the little "dip switches" to set the remotes to (inside the wall control) and the Elite remote has that too, it may work. If that's the case then you would need to match up the dip switches so they're the same between the remote and the radio control (inside the wall control). If the remote does not have dip switches then it simply will not work.Thank you for using Manage My Life!Member
