Your likely failure is the lid switch in that situation. Most Kenmore 80 Series washers will not drain or spin if that switch is bad. You can probably fix the washer by replacing that switch. Here is a link for a video that shows how to access and replace that component: Video: Washing Machine Lid Switch Replacement . Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components. You can order that lid switch from the Sears PartsDirect website. Before you replace that switch, you can bypass it using an insulated jumper wire in that harness plug as shown in the image below. Your washer may have gray and tan wires in that lid switch harness instead of gray and violet as shown in the image below. Be sure that you have the washer unplugged when accessing that plug and placing the insulated jumper wire in the wire harness. If you are not comfortable with conducting that test, I recommend that you have a service technician conduct the repair. Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need it: Sears Home Services .
If the washer runs with that lid switch bypassed, then you will need to replace that lid switch. I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.Member
