Kenmore Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Model 79577304600 What causes the incandescent lamps to stay on after doors are closed?

Kenmore Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Model 79577304600 The incandescent lamps (409B) inside the refrigerator cabinet would not turn off when the doors were closed and the light switches were completely depressed. The incandescent lamps (409B) super heated and melted the decorative control (503G). I have ordered replacments for 409B & 503G and am also replacing 410A, socket assembly. What caused the incandescent lamps to stay on?

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the lights staying on. You have received some very good information from Pvalde. When the refrigerator lights stay lit, there is an updated light socket harness assembly # 6621JK2003B that will need to be installed.

There is a known issue on this model of refrigerator and the warranty has been extended to cover this issue only.

The light socket harness and the main control board will normally need to be installed and any damage caused by the light staying on will normally be covered but a technician will have to make the repairs.

I'm listing a site you can access to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . They will normally advise you that you will be charged for the service since the refrigerator is outside the normal warranty period. You will likely have to agree to this service charge in order to get the service technician to come to your home. However, unless there is another problem, this repair will be covered under warranty.

I have received the #6621JK2003B socket harness assembly replacing the #6621JK2002D assembly I previously had in the refrigerator. The #6621JK2003B has a couple extra components and wires. *What is the green wire for and where do I attach the lead on the end of it? *What is the metal cylinder with the pink and purple wires leading to it and where do I attach it?

This is the new light socket and harness assembly. This is a repair that is covered under warranty but a technician will be required to make this repair. It's a possibility that the board may also need to be replaced, which will also be under warranty but only if a technician makes this repair. I strongly recommend having a technician come out to make this repair. You can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out. I suggest putting the original part back in place and disconnecting the light until a technician can make this complete repair under warranty.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
