Error code is either SH or 5H. Won't start. I've turned it on and off, tried unplugging, checked water line and drain line. Everything seems okay. Help!
I understand how important it is for your washer to be working so that you can do your laundry without any further delay and although your washer is not working properly, I will be happy to help. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did mange to find a link that will provide you with more information about your problem.
There is no error code for SH or 5H. There is a Sd error meaning suds have been detected.
You might see 5H in the display if a delay wash cycle is selected. The 5H would simply mean the machine will start in 5 hours. Try changing the delay time or canceling it and see if the washer will run. Let me know if this helps. If not then we'll try some other things to resolve the problem.I have the same thing and it will not start. I can cycle through all the delay time cycles to no avail. I cancel turn off and turn on and it still comes up 5H. It is definitely 5H. I left it off 24 hours and the first thing up is 5H. This is my 3rd Kenmore washer and I am getting tired of spending $700 every 3 years.
From the problem and description I suspect you have a bad interface/console. It sounds like you have a stuck or shorted keypad. The is one thing you should check. The Cycle Signal button will put the unit into "control lock" or "child lock" which locks out all the cycles so no one change change the cycle or options. If you press and hold the Cycle Signal button the lock light should toggle on or off.
You can try first disconnecting the ribbon connector and then reattaching it and see if there is an improvement.. The expense of the part is one reason I'd suggest a technician check and repair this problem. For $129 service call/all labor he takes the risk of the part if it is damaged or doesn't fix the problem. There is no way to disable the button.
