I understand how ice could be a big deal because without ice we will have hot drinks instead of nice cold drinks. I am more concerned with the water poring out of the filter.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the icemaker and this water leak. If the water is leaking from the cup section, usually replacing the o-ring # 218904301 will correct this problem. It's available at SearsPartsDirect .

To check the icemaker, it can be manually advanced and it may help determine the problem. To advance the icemaker, pull the front cover off and you will see a large and small gear. Turn the small gear counterclockwise approx. 1/4 turn and the icemaker should start into a cycle and toward the end of the cycle, it will fill. If it does fill, the icemaker # 5304458371 will need to be replaced but if it does not fill and you can hear a humming sound, the water valve # 241734301 will need to be replaced. Hi Scott, Thanks for your answer. The water filter cup had ice in it, when we placed the filter & some of my food did too. The ice maker is going threw the cycle. It is just not filling up with water. The water dispenser is not dispensing water either.

When there is no water flow to both the icemaker and water dispenser, the most common problem will be a defective water valve. You can follow the steps in the information you have received to cycle the icemaker. You can also activate the dispenser lever and if you can hear a humming sound from the back of the unit, it will indicate the valve is getting energized but not opening. The valve # 241734301 will probably need to be replaced. I hope this will help you.

Thanks for your reply, So,could this be why water runs out of the water filter, when I activate the water dispenser and the ice maker goes thru its cycle and tries to fill up with water? Do you know about how much the cost is for the valve? Just wondering. Thanks for your help.

The valve will cost $ 66.32 not including shipping and tax. This will not cause the filter to leak. Usually replacing the o - ring already listed, will correct the filter leak. If it still leaks, then the filter housing and cup may also need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, I will be glad to assist you further.
