The ice maker in my Frigidare Refrigirator is not getting water to it.

Model Number: FRT18SJG. The unit is getting water into and past the inlet valve. When you put water in the ice tray the unit makes ice and dumps the ice. Can you help me diagnose the problem?

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the icemaker stops working. This could be a problem with the icemaker itself or the water valve. Since the icemaker will harvest the ice when the mold is manually filled, it indicates the freezer temperature is ok. First, check the fill tube to the icemaker to see if it's frozen. If the fill tube is frozen, you can use a hair dryer to thaw it out but be careful not to get it too hot. This indicates the valve is not seating all the way and will need to be replaced. If the fill tube is clear, another check you can make will be to jump the black and yellow wires in the harness connection to the icemaker. You will need to drop the icemaker down to access the connection. I'm attaching a picture with instructions to remove (drop) the icemaker. Disconnect power to the unit first and now the icemaker harness connection. Now, insert a well insulted jumper between the yellow and black wires on the connection coming from the back wall. Be ready to catch some water from the fill tube and reconnect the power. If water now flows, the icemaker will need to be replaced. If now water flows, the water valve will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.
