Refrigerator Noise

My Kenmore refrigerator (model # 795.7130) which we purchased last year has recently begun making noise much louder than was normal. The noise, which sounds like a motor running, stops when you open the door, other wise the refrigerator seems to be operting properly. Any ideas on the cause of the noise?

When it comes to appliances making noise it can be really strange especially when it wakes you at night. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I found a great link in the Manage My Life website on Refrigerator making noise. I have attached the link below. Have a great day!

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern. You have received some good general information from Dezeray. These refrigerators will make sounds louder than you probably heard on your original unit that will be normal. If the sound you hear now seems louder and stops when the door is opened, it would lead to the fan motor. Depending on the sound and how loud it is, may not mean anything. If it's a whistling or chirping sound, it could mean the motor needs to be replaced. I'm listing a site you can access to have a technician come out to check this. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and please include the complete model and serial number and I will be glad to assist you further.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
