Defrosting the fridge.

How do I get the little box of the back of the inside of the fridge to defrost the tubes inside?

Thank you for your question. From the information listed, it appears this is a defrost problem. If frost is building up on the back wall in the freezer, this will be a defrost problem. In this case, the timer (# 4 in picture) can be advanced into the defrost cycle. Under the control housing (# 12) will be a small hole and inside the hole will be the timer knob. Use a small screwdriver and turn the knob slowly until it clicks and the unit stops running. It will now be in a defrost cycle. After a few minutes, open the freezer door and if you can hear a sizzling sound, it will indicate the heating element is on. This will indicate the timer # 482493 is not advancing and will need to be replaced. It's available at SearsPartsDirect . To help speed up the defrost process, you can use a hair dryer on the frost that has accumulated on the back wall. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
