My Craftsman Lawnmower Model no. 247.38293 /Briggs and Stratton engine Model 120000 series 675 stopped working. I took it out of the box set it up according to directions, put in gas and made sure enough oil was in it. It started up and I began mowing, but it was a little too low to the ground and difficult to push in the tall grass, and sputtered out a few times. I raised the height of the wheels and now it won't start, the start engine cord won't even pull out all the way, appears to lock out aften being pulled an inch or two. What could be wrong with it?
Thank you for your question.I am sorry you are having a problem with the new mower. First double check the oil level. If it is fine, the problem is most likely grass jamming the blade. To correct this problem, disconnect the spark plug wire from the sparkplug. Then tip the mower onto its side with the air filter up. Once on its side, clean out any grass, and use gloved hands to turn the blade. It should have a little drag because the engine brake is on but you should be able to turn it. If you can turn the blade, tip the mower back over and reconnect the sparkplug wire, and check the operation. If the mower will not start, I recommend taking the mower in for repair.
