The fuel lines on my Craftsman weed wacker model# 358.799211 rotted out. They were so far gone, that it was impossible to determine the original line lengths. I could not even determine whcih line went to which port. The replacement fuel line kits that I ordered from Sears did not come with any specific instruction on these points. Strangely, when I called Sears for help, they said they could only give me installation instructions if the tool was still under warranty. Silly of course, becasue I would not be making the repair myself if it was still under warranty. The technician I spoke with failed to see the logic in this. How can I obtain a diagram that will show me how the fuel lines are routed? . .

if you look at the holes on top of gas tank are they both the same size? i put in new lines in trimmers at 1 foot of line on each hole so the filter sets on the bottom and the other line sets in the bottom as well so it doesnt suck air in the line.s if they are the same size hole then you need the same size line. if not then you need one size smaller for the other hole. which if you go to the hardware store you can tell them what you have and buy the lines pretty cheap. as for where they go the line that goes into the carbuerator will also have the filter attached at the bottom of the tank and the other will attach below the line that runs in the carbuerator. that has nothing attached in the bottom of tank press the primer bulb and see if you see gas coming up to the carbuerator if you do then you have hooked them up correctly if not then switch lines around and you will have the correct set up. i hope i have helped you resolve your problem let me know good luck john
Thank you for you question.I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. The manufacture does not offer repair manual showing the fuel line routing. I have provided you with a sketch below that shows how the fuel should circulate through the system. I have also found a video on how fuel lines are routed. Please click here to watch the video. You model is not exactly the same but it shows how the trimmer is connected. The small line on you model has the fuel filter attached to it and should be long enough for the filter to move in the tank. the filter has to move so it is submerged in fuel all of the time. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the trimmer. Here is a link to order any parts you need. Sears Parts Direct .If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician.
