Craftsman garage door opener

Craftsman garage door opener 139.53641SRT. Erased all the codes opener has learned as per instructions in the owner's manual. Now I can't reprogram the remote control (I only have one). I'm following 'To Add A Remote Control' part of the instructions and it doesn't work. I made sure that the Lock feature is turned off. Please help! To Add A Remote Control 1. Select a remote control push button to operate a receiver 2. Press and Hold the selected remote control push button 3. Then press and release the "SRT" button on the right side panel of the opener. The opener light will flash once. - There is no flashing in my case. Now the opener will operate when the remote control push button is pressed.

I know that this can be a difficult process. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I am going to suggest a different pattern. First press and release the SRT button, don't hold it down. Then Press and hold the remote control button. The light in the garage will flash if it took. If it doen't then look at the indicator light and see if it is flashing. If it is then make note of how many time. This will tell you if there is a issue. I hope this will help you.

Let's start at the beginning. Why did you decide to erase the codes? Was your remote working at the time? Are you pressing and immediately releasing the SRT button while holding down the button on the remote?

Make sure that the remote that you are programming has a good battery. You may try replacing that battery in the remote before programming it. After replacing the battery, hold down the button on the remote and then press and immediately release the SRT button on the motor unit of the garage door opener.

If the remote still won't program then you may have a problem with the logic board in the motor unit.

My remote, which has been working for years, has been stolen from the car in my garage. I had the old 3-button remote from previous Craftsman garage opener (similar model) and decided to erase all codes from the opener and reprogram it. Put a new battery in the remote, followed all instructions from the manual, exactly as Lyle W and Don suggested, but didn't get it working. I don't think there is a problem with the logic board in the motor unit, since everything was working fine with the old remote. Any suggestions what to try next? Thank you

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
