I recently replaced my factory installed mower blades with a mulching kit. I attached the mulching kit and reattached the deck and the Deck Engagement cable. The Cable broke within 5 hrs of operation... The deck seemed to vibrate more than usually and I believe it was improper installation that caused it to break in the first place. Can you send detailed instructions on how the new deck engagement cable should be installed? Also, I may over overtightened one of the blade spindle pulleys when putting the new blade on... Should the blades be able to turn both directions easily? One of the blades turns both directors when a little bit of force is applied. The other one will only turn in one direction. Any help or tips will be appreciated.

Thank you for your question.I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. If the deck is vibrating more than normal after installing the blades, I recommend double-checking the installation of the blades. If the blade is not sitting on the shaft correctly, the deck will shake. If the blades are ok, check the condition of the belt. If the belt is in bad shape, the deck will vibrate. As for the spring breaking, it could have been install incorrectly. The image below has the instructions for removing the deck. The spring should be routed under the belt. If over the belt, the spring will rub on the belt causing damage to the belt or spring. Now I will address the turning the blades. Both mandrels have brakes on them to stop the blades when the deck is turned off. If the brakes are against the pulleys you will feel resistance when turning the blades. Depending on the condition of the brake pads and the pulley surface, it might be harder to turn one blade then the other. To make sure the brakes are releasing, with the engine turned off and the belt off engage the lever. Then turn the blades. They both should turn freely. I hope this is helpful.
