I have a Kenmore Elite SmartWash. The light is lit and stays on - on the SENSING and HEATING PAUSE. It also stays at 76. The water in the bottom is not draining. Any suggestions? Model # 16572200
Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.Based on your symptom and details the dishwasher is likely operating normally if it will eventually begin to count down again. It could pause for 30 minutes or up to 60 minutes or longer before it will begin to count down. The estimated time in the display is pausing because it's in the Heating Pause cycle where it has to heat the water until it reaches the target temperature of 120 degrees, 130 degrees or 140 degrees depending on the soil level and cycle/option selected before the estimated time will begin to count down. It has the heat the water to 140 degrees in the final rinse cycles also. Now, if the heating element is not working then that could be the cause of it pausing forever or an extremely long time.I must assume the water will drain when Cancel/Drain button is pushed. If it doesn't drain but you hear the drain pump running then it could have restriction in the drain pump or drain hose. The link that the first responder Pvalde2 provided will also add additional information.If you feel there is problem with you dishwasher I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician.
