We have a LG refrigerator with freezer on the bottom model LFX25950SB it will dispense water out of the door but will not fill the icemaker, we can pour water in the icemaker and it will freeze and empty the cubes, but will not fill with water. do I need to replace the water valve on the bottom of the refrigerator will the water line connects or is there another valve and solenoid in the door somewhere? we have tried resetting the icemaker but no luck
Having one of the features not working on the refrigerator can be a frustrating ordeal. I was able to find some general information that might help you along on fixing your issue. I have attached the link below while you are waiting on your expert to answer your question. Hope this helps!
Having an icemaker is a great feature but when it fails can be very disappointing. There is also a valve located inside the door (see picture) that feeds both the dispenser and icemaker. If you are manually cycling the icemaker (holding the water level button for 3 seconds) listen for a humming sound, toward the end of the cycle. If you can hear this sound, it indicates the water valve is getting energized but not opening. The valve # 6877JB3036V in the door will need to be replaced. If you do not hear this sound, some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician will be needed to make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
I already replaced the icemaker. It is an LRFD25850TT. After thinking about it, when I put voltage to the solenoid, it flowed water, but little pressure. I will check today to see if it indeed is receiving voltage during the cycle, but the solenoid is not opening enough to all enough pressure to fill the cavities. Oddly, it made 1 cube last night. Perhaps I have a defective solenoid.
Water valve came today and problem not solved. Water still not entering tray. I do get 120v when I run the icemaker through the cycle and I hear the solenoid make noise like it is opening, but does not pass water. I switched leads to the water dispenser and then water flows to the ice maker as it should. I do not know why 120v through the icemaker is different than 120v through the water dispenser, but I tried it over and over and i get the same result. What now? Thanks!
