Having a Garage door opener that is not working can be quite concerning as well quite a disappointment. I have taken the time to research on the Manage My Life website and have some information that you may find useful. While you are waiting for an expert to reply I have attached a few links below. Hope the information is useful.
You may have accidentally bumped the RPM sensor or disk (that sensor reads) when working on the light socket. Take the cover back off of the opener unit and look on the very end of the motor shaft. There should be a disk on the end of the shaft, if that disk is not there or damaged that is your problem. If the disk is in place, check the sensor to make sure the disk is near it and that the sensor is not pushed away. Also, check the wires to the sensor as they can become pinched if moved.
It is also possible that the sensor just failed, but I find that unlikely since this didn't start until you worked on the unit. It's pretty easy to bump something like that and not notice that you did.Thank you for using Manage My Life!Member
