I understand your concern toward wanting to fix the touch pad on your range since this component sends what function you want your range to do. From what you're describing it looks like the touchpad will need to be replaced. If all the commands work except cancel I recommend replacing the touchpad assembly. Another possibility is the control board or a wiring connector problem.
