Wanting to use an old appliance for an new system can be quite tricky to find out if you can. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, a suggestion I have is to visit Sears Parts Direct website to speak with a Sears associate. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!

The ability of the remotes from an older model to work with a new model will depend on the system type of the old and the new. A lot of the older stuff does not work with the newer systems, but it is possible. If you can get me the model number of both the old and new units, I can check to see if the 2 will "talk" to each other or not.
