How do I remove the front cover plate from the water dispensing unit located on the outside freezer door of a Kenmore Side-by-Side Refrigerator, Model # 106.58902800? I have water leaking down from the cover plate while pouring a glass of water from the water dispenser.
I understand you would like to remove the face plate to the water dispenser on your refrigerator. I found a question in Manage My Life under the Answers button that was similar to the one you asked me. I think this might give you some very helpful information in the meantime while your waiting on an expert answer. I attached the link below, I hope this helps!!!!
To remove the front cover of the dispenser in the freezer begin by disconnecting the power to the refrigerator. When you remove the front cover you will expose some wires with 120 volts ac on them.Slide the drain tray in the dispenser forward and remove it. Remove the 2 screws behind the drain tray and pull the bottom of the dispenser cover forward about 1 inch. Lift the cover up and it will disconnect from the top and you can remove it. The wires to the switch in the cover will hold it and you can move it out of the way.You will probably need to remove the screws in the bracket behind the front cover to access the water fill tube.
Many thanks-- Although the two corner scres you mention to start are not on our model, which kept us dead n the water for quite awhile, your further comments gave us the fortitude to pull out the bottom edgeof cover and voila-- things opened up very nicely. The feed tubing was cut where it passed over the edges of metal bracket so with sufficient extra tubing to remove bad section and secure with so soft tape, all is working OK. Bbdkrr
