I need to remove the dishwasher door on my Kenmore Elite model # 665.15979992 so that I can replace the tub spacers
Having the dishwasher out of commission puts this on the critical to do list. I sometimes find guidance in the owner's manual. I attached the link to your manual below as well as the link to the schematics at Sears Parts Direct. It may help while you wait for the expert answer. My only other advice is if you have to hand wash, wear gloves! Hope this helps!
The image below shows the basic components of the type of door that is on this model of dishwasher. You can shut off the breaker to the dishwasher and remove the bottom access panel and toe panel as shown below. This may give you the access that you need to the tub spacers. You may need to shut off the water supply and pull the dishwasher out from under the counter. It is normally attached to the underside of the counter by brackets. Remove the screws from the brackets and pull the dishwasher out far enough to access the hinges and springs on the bottom of the door. I am not showing the fasteners that attach the door hinge to the frame of the dishwasher. With the dishwasher pulled out, you should be able to determine whether you can remove the hinges from the door frame to completely remove the door. I also provided procedures for removing the inner and outer door panels. These tips should help you remove the door and/or replace the tub spacers. If you do not feel confident that you can replace the tub spacers yourself, then you can have them replaced by a Sears technician.
