I need to extend the belt for my garage door opener 139.53918D, because the one that came in the box is to short

I understand your looking for a way to extend your belt to your garage door opener. The only suggestion I have is for you while your waiting on an expert answer is to visit our Sears.com website or PartsDirect.com website and look at the rail extension kits that could possibly have a longer chain or belt that you need.

If this unit is straight out of the box and you are using the new parts ONLY then look over the parts to make sure they are put together correctly. I have installed thousands of these literally and have never had this problem with original manufacturer parts. Do not use any old parts on the install. If this is actually the case you need to contact the retail outlet you purchased this unit from to exchange the unit or get this part as it will be under warranty. If you are using the 8 or ten foot extension kit they will come with the appropriate belt for that rail system. Thanks BB
