i have a craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener, should u use the release cord while power is on?
my home inspector pulled the release cord while the door was open and the door came crashing down while showing me the saftey features.

We always suggest that when you pull the red cord you have a hand on the door. If the door was not balanced well then might happen and is exactly why we suggest this. The door either needs to be balanced with the springs it has or needs new springs that balance it well. This is something someone who has no clue about garage doors might do. Sorry this had to happen. BB
