Gates are made to defy gravity. One of the most important members on a gate is the cross buck. It will be a piece that spans diagonally from the top hinge side to the bottom latch side. It can be made of the same material as the gate or they make a system that is metal that has it's own screw adjustments in the middle to fine tune. Also make sure the post that the gate is attached to is secure and does not move. A good trick if you are working with wood and one of the lags or screws won't hold and spins and won't tighten is to take it out and cut some toothpick size pieces of treated lumber and insert then in to the whole and run the lag or screw back in. It will hold then. There should be no place on the gate that spans more than 3" for safety.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
