My garage door opener has one remote and I want to add an additional remote. Is this possible?

I have a 1989 craftsman garage door opener model 139.53663SRT2 that came with a remote. I would like to add an additional remote so that my roommate can use the garage as well. Is it possible to add another remote or would I have to update my system?

Sure. You can go to your local sears with the model number or the color of the learn button on the back or side of the motor unit. Or you can go to searspartsdirect.com to get one with the same info, click on the contact us icon for help.

Press and release the colored learn button and then press the button on the new remote. The light bulb should flash. Wait for 30 seconds and try the remote. We recommend a surge protector on all units. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
