Why does my TV not turn on?
I have a Hitachi model 50V500 with no picture or sound. The lamp light is lit.

If the TV fails to turn on and the lamp indicator is lit, it is pointing towards a lamp ignition failure. The signal board tells the lamp ballast to fire, the lamp ballast fires and the lamp illuminates. The least common problem is losing the on command to the ballast. The ballast not firing because it is defective is a possible scenario. The ballast fires but the lamp does not light is most common problem. This can be troubleshot but checking the on command and the supply to the ballast but since the lamp is consumable part I would try it first.
