I have a 1987 sears 1/3 hp garage door opener. the remote does not work. the remote has dip switches but I cannot find them on the opener. called 800# said they have no manual 1987 too old to get one. can anyone help?
Your manual is not available in a pdf file either, sorry. During this time openers were making the transition from manual set codes to billion and rolling codes. If there is not any dip switches on the motor head then there will be a learn button. It has to have one or the other unless the unit is using an external receiver. There will be two bell wires coming out of a plugged in plastic box.
If there are dip switches make them match. If this does not work and the batteries are good you either need a new remote or a logic board. If there is a colored learn button then you need to set the desired dip switch positions press and release the learn button and then the button on the remote. If this does not work press the remote button and the learn button at the same time. If this does not work and the battery is good then you will need a new remote or a new logic board. You can get any of these parts at searspartsdirect.com, click on the contact us icon for help. Thanks BBok hope ur still in need of this..i have the same garage opener... the dip code is not on the motor unit..in which poeple are telling u.. its on ur wall mounter..where u actually open the garage with..u got to un screw it..look inside it..and u see the actual dip code..just match with ur remote opener..and it will work...
