I have an edger model 536772300. I need to replace the breather tube. What parts does this task require? Does it attach to the motor ???

There seems to be a loose brass fitting where the original hose was connected. Do I need to replace this? How does the hose attach? Do I need to pull the valve cover? Do I need new gasket(s)? The way it is right now there is really no way to attach the hose to the loose brass tube. Is the breather tube actually needed?

You need to order the breather tube and the breather tube grommet. The parts you need to order are:

71 143 32446 1 3.14 143984001 BREATHER TUBE GROMMET 71 143 32447 1 4.47 143984001 BREATHER TUBE

You don't need to remove the valve cover so you don't need any gaskets. The grommet will seal the breather tube to the air breather housing.

The breather tube blows small quantities of oil sometimes. Installing it into the breather housing will let the oil go through the carburetor instead of building up on the engine.

The engine will operate fine without the breather tube.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
