Why won't new Sears #953985 garage door opener limit adjust work? Worked fine til I tried car remot

It worked fine on installation, and I was able to adjust using the wall control. But when I tried the car remote, it seems like it dropped the "memory" out of the limit adjustment, and now turning the travel limit screws has no affect of any kind. It reverses at the bottom with no flashing lights and travels all the way to the end of the rail at the top end.

It does not matter how you activate the door as far as the wall button or remote. There is no "memory" only an adjustment set by the installer. The opener is actually dumb here. It opens and closes the distance the installer tells it to, or until it hits the floor or the opener head and reverses.

Try turning the DOWN TRAVEL away from the arrow indicated, since turning it with the arrow is telling it to go down further. Try turning it 3 full turns AWAY from the arrow at first. If nothing then 3 more turns. Turning the up travel with the arrow also tells the opener to go further up, away from the arrow tells it to open not as high. Sometimes if you put too much of a strain on the internal limits then you may break them or throw them off track. If you think this is the case unplug the unit and look inside at the motor. Find 3 white screws and look for anything obvious. Other than that it is all in the adjustments. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
