I cannot just tap the pad button (remote or panel) to get garage door to close. I have to hold the pad button down and wait until the door is closed. Sometimes it pops back up after it hits the ground and I have to do it several times before it will stay closed.
If you have to hold the wall button down then the sensors are to be suspect.
Look at the sensors each should have an led light and be on. Not flashing off or flickering. Most of the time these simply get bumped an need to be adjusted. They should point toward each other. If there is no obstruction and they are pointed toward each other than the wiring is bad or the actual sensors have gone bad. Try the wiring first. They are polarized. If you need any parts go to searspartsdirect.com, click on the contact us icon for help. As far as the hitting the ground this is a different problem. Turn up the down FORCE(back or side of motor unit) 1/4 turn and try again. If no then another 1/4. If no then turn the down TRAVEL opposite of the arrow. This stops the door before it tries to close too far. Make sure and do a 2x4 safety reversal test after. If you need a manual go to managemyhome.com and input the model number in the manuals icon.
