G O works fine in warm temps at 55 deg stops work have to hold butt down to close happ 4 3 yrs now

craftsman 1/2 hp garage opener, works fine in the warm temps (late spring, summer, and early fall), around 55 deg it stops working, when button is pushed the lights flash, it will only close when you hold the button down, 1 led is lit and the other isn't on the sensors, I have to do this from late fall until late spring, once the weather warms back up the garage opener works just fine, this has been happening for about 3 or 4 years now.

This is probably 2 different problems that just manifest together.

For the cold temperature issue find the adjustments on the back or side of the unit called force. There is a up and down force turn the down force clockwise 1/3 turn and then run it as normal. Do a 2x4 safety reversal test after. Never turn this adjustment all the way up, it can be very dangerous.

For the having to hold the button down, next time it happens look at the safety sensors. There should be an led light on eac h one and be lit up, don't mind the color. They might of been bumped or gotten misaligned. Or the surface they are attached to might be the problem, if it is the track look at the lag bolts that hold the track to the wall to make sure they are tight. Just make sure the sensors don't move as the door comes down and the led lights are on all the way down. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
