my garage door opener will not open when I push the button but the lights will blink 10 times,
it wont open with either the remote or wall mounted opener but the lights will blink 10 times, what is it telling me with the blinking lights

First unhook the door from the opener and run the door by hand. Check for balance and ease of operation. You should be able to open the door very easily even on a heavy door if it is properly balanced. If not fix it. If so try running the opener not with the door. If it does not run you will need either a new star gear or a new logic board. I can't tell from here. If the door does run without the door find the open force on the opener head and turn it up 1/3 turn and hook the door up and try it again. The blinking light bulb just tells you there is something wrong. Also make sure the vacation lock on the wall button is not on. If it is hold down the lock button for 2 seconds and try it. There is an LED indicator light on the back or side of the motor unit that will blink up to 6 times for diagnostic flash codes. If they are look in your book to see what that means.
