My garage door opener won't work. I have a green light on the remote and the wall unit but no sound from the motor. Is there any reset button?

It is a model 139.53637SRT1. It is a Craftsman 1/2 HP. It is dead. When I plug it in the light comes on but when I press the wall control only a green light nothing from the motor. The last time we ran it, it was going up and down a lot to the point where it stopped working. At the time we wondered if the overload protector tripped but it says to wait 15 minutes and try again. It's been days?

The motor unit of the garage door opener has a led that should flash an error code to tell you where the problem is. I am sending you an image that explains the flashes of the led and offers some troubleshooting for the different flash codes.

The opener has an overload built into the motor that should reset itself when the motor cools down. I don't think that is the problem.

Try holding the button on the wall control in. Sometimes this will cause the opener to work if the problem is in the door safety sensors or the remotes.

If you need advice after checking the flash codes, send another email and give us the details of what you have done.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
