Replaced old Sears opener with new unit. Used existing wiring that was working this morning. Verified power to outlet that it is plugged into. Did not change sensor eyes or other hardware, just motor assembly. Sensor eyes are glowing appropriate colors. Verified wiring (red to red, white to white). Unit has a soft "click" when I plug it in. Hower the unit does not respond when trying to verify operation with the hard wired switch. I have taken off the hard wired control console and touched the red and white wires together and still get no response from the unit. No indication that the unit is receiving power. Are there any other troubleshooting suggestions I should try or return the unit for replacement? Thank you!
If you plug the unit in and the light bulb comes on or you hear a click then you are receiving power. To test it plug a lamp in to the outlet. If the sensors have power then the unit is producing and distributing power through the logic board.
I did not find that model number in our data base but if it is new all will be the same. You really need to install the whole opener. Although some components are the same, most look but are not the same. I would urge you especially for warranty to install the whole unit. I would start by replacing the wire to the unit. It is 2 strand bell wire. If this does not work the motor may be in a bind. Take the motor head off the rail hook it up to 110 only and touch the 2 terminals that the wall station would go. If it does work and the motor gear turns then it is functionable. If not then the motor or logic board is bad. If it is working touch and hold the terminals until the motor stops, this will be in the closed position for install. Thanks BBMember
