Garage door opener will not operate unless tapped on the back panel

The only thing this really could be is the logic board unless there is a loose connection inside the motor casings harnesses or connections. Unplug the unit and take off the motor housing look for any obvious damage or any loose connections paying close attention the the wire harnesses. Also look at the 110v wires coming in to the unit.
