Sears Garage door opener Model 39.53990D The security light stays on as designed when the sensor beam has been activated. Can this feature be turned off. There is no need for the light to stay on during the day every time I break the safety sensor beam. See item 5 page 33 and "Automatic Light Feature" on page 31 of the Owner's Manual.

This is a feature that can not be turned off on this opener. If you do not want the light to come on my suggestion would be to either step over the beam on the way in or out, or to take out the light bulbs altogether. These are the only things that can be done since the opener will not function if the safety beams are disconnected. Thanks BB
