If this is a new remote then it is possible that the battery is bad in it. I would start here. If not that then It might just be a bad remote. Usually ones that come with the unit are programmed for you. To see if it needs to be programmed find the colored learn button on the motor head and press and release it. Then press the button on the remote. The light bulb should flash once to let you know the code has been accepted. If it does not flash then first replace the battery and then the remote. Return it to where ever you purchased it. We also recommend a surge protector 900 joules or higher for all openers. Thanks BB
