I can not get my garage door opener to close the garage door. The opener works properly, raising the door and hits the limit switch and shuts off. However, when you try to close the door, using either the remote control or the wall switch, nothing happens. I disassembled the limit switch and removed the chain. I then, using the remote control turned the garage door opener on and the motor continues to run in the same direction. No matter what I do, turning the motor on and off, the motor continues to run in the same direction. Any suggestions?
If the eyes are misaligned or damaged then it will not go in the down direction unless you hold the wall button down constantly. If you disassembled the limit screw assembly then it will go on and on. in the same direction no matter what(up). If this is what is wrong you need to fix or replace the safety sensors and replace or fix the limit screw assembly. This is a very weird situation I must say though. If it is not able to be fixed relatively cheaply I might suggest a new unit. Thanks BB
