do the new belt 1/2 hp garage door openers use the same mounting brackets as the old chain drive

I have an older series 139.536 craftsman door operen 1/2 hp chain drive. Looking to replace, and thinking about new belt driven models, will my old mounting brackes still work, and will my old remotes work on new systems?

First of all the old remotes will not work with the new unit. Your old one operated on 390mhz and was a billion code. This new one has a rolling code and operates at 315mhz.

As far as the back hang brackets yes they will be in the exact same place, as long as the 1st one was put up right. The front of the rail bracket needs replaced though. Make sure and have a surge protector on the new or old unit 900 joules or higher and do a 2x4 safety reversal test too. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
