How do I remove oil stains from my concrete driveway?

I have a large oil spill.

If the spill is recent, you can likely remove it with some detergent or baking soda. Make sure that excess oil on the top of the concrete is dried up and eliminated. Kitty litter will absorb any oil on the surface of the concrete and then it can be swept up and properly disposed of. Wet the concrete slightly and then sprinkle a heavy coat of baking soda or detergent (I use powdered dishwasher detergent) on top of the oil stain. Let the powder sit for about 5 minutes. Scrub the spot down. You may need to add some water. Be careful with the run off. You may need to use rags or paper towels to pick up the detergent and oil mixture. Repeat the cleaning process until the results are achieved that you are looking for.

After much of the initial oil stain is removed using the above method, you can likely use a pressure washer to help clean the remaining residual stain.

If the stain has been there for a long time, it may be more difficult to clean.

You can also buy produts for scrubbing concrete that can help remove stains. Seas sells a few: --Project Pro PerfectMix™ Extreme Concentrate Concrete, Brick, and Tile Cleaner --DEK House/Auto Cleaner/Degreaser Detergent Concentrate

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
