How do I link my new craftsman garage remote to the old one so they will both open the door139.53879

I bought a second remote for my garage. I cannot get both remotes to open the garage. I need to link them so the are both sending the same signal to the garage door opener.

I don't have your opener model number to make sure it is the right remote for it, but I believe it has to have a green learn button to be right. Check the batteries. If you do have the right one then you should be able to ---- press the learn button on the back or side of the opener head and then press the button on the remote. The light bulb should blink once. For more remotes repeat from ----. If it is the right one and it does not work and it is the right one then if it is just one remote not programming then you need another remote. If you are having problems with both then you will need a new logic board. You can go to searspartsdirect.com to get one. Click on the contact us icon for help. Thanks BB

Your suggested procedure did not work for me. Perhaps there is a timing issue, i.e., you must program the send one immediately after the first one. I had one remote (139.53879) which worked fine. I purchased a second remote, programmed it with the "learn" button, and it works fine. Now my old remote no longer works. How do I program the receiver unit to accept signals from BOTH remotes to open the door? (P.S. I did have a second remote but never could get it to work -- would be nice if I could, but that is why I bought a new one.)

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
