Garage door will not go down unless I hold bell button in. Model #13953674srt1.

Disconnected sensors from unit as I was told at Sears Hardware. Did not work. Bought new logic board - did not work. Can I operate door without sensors or do I need to replace them?

Your door opener will not work without operating sensors. By holding down the wall button you are bypassing this safety measure.

Lets try hooking them up with a dummy wire to see if they are good. Cut the bell wire 12" from the sensors and strip the wire 7/16" from the end. The wires are white and colored/white, probably black. Hook these two wires up to the opener head. If you have the push in type hook ups then it is the 3 and 4 or black and white. Colored or black to black and white ti white. Hook both of them up and point them at each other. If they both light up then they are good and I would run new bell wire just in case and reattach them to the bottom of the door. If they do not light up then you need new sensors. You can go to searspartsdirect.com for replacements, or your local sears store. But your sensors have to be on to work right. If you do not have a surge protector on the unit get one. These types of problems mostly occur because the unit was not protected. THanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
