I replaced the circuit board, but that didn't solve the issue. The spring opener asssembly is ok, but doesn'; twortk with the remote
You can replace the motor unit without replacing the rest of it, but the only thing is if anything goes wrong is the warranty issue. No opener manufacturer will cover old parts or pieced together parts. If you do it stay with the same company, ie sears...sears, chamberlain...chamberlain. There are places to get the motor unit only but I don't know any personally. If you buy one from any retailer it will be the whole thing, motor, rail, electronics, remotes...so it is up to you. make sure and install a surge protector 900 joules or higher no matter what you do. Thanks BB
Have you checked the remote? Does it work with another? Are the batteries ok? Did you receive a circuit board with the same frequency as the remote? A lazy person (as I am) would probably use an external receiver like the Chamberlain 955C together with a new remote. These parts are cheap and easy to install.
