Why does my garage door opener only close about 6" and then go back up?
I have a garage door opener model 139.53614SR.

If you have infrared safety sensors installed, check these to make sure that they are aligned properly. Pull the emergency release and the check to see if the door is binding. Here is a link for the owner's manual that provides additional troubleshooting for this type of garage door opener: Owner's Manual . You may need to adjust the down force or travel limits.
